haute couture

this morning i fumbled out of bed and managed to put together a rather nice outfit- white button-up shirt, white skirt with brown and blue floral print- and i was content with it....until i remembered that old rule of never wearing white after labor day. normally i wouldve said screw it, but i couldnt get it out of my head. i eventually changed. although, i think i wouldve been ok since the outfit wasnt all white...but who really knows what these so called rules of fashion are? certainly no one in a doctor's office in columbia...

I think that is one of those old rules that doesn't apply anymore. I imagine victorian women at a garden party, something like that scene in the Age of Innosence where May wins at archery. Back then the rules would also have included "never appear publicly without a hat" and "tighten your laces". That's just my guess.

Besides, a Dr.'s office, even if it isn't in ye ole heartland would be exempt.
